English: Gargoyle, located on the south transept of Chichester Cathedral, depicting Clifford Hodgetts OBE (1934-2020)[1], solicitor (hence the wig) and former registrar to dean and chapter of the cathederal.[2] The pipe in his mouth clearly depicts the primary function of a gargoyle: a means of diverting rainwater from the masonary walls of the building.
