There is one thing which I would wish to add. What has been said by user Antóin is correct when a noun in the nominative that comes after the article begins with any CONSONANT other than s.
 
But when S is the initial letter, it is necessary to place a t in front of the feminine noun rather than adding a h: "síocháin", yet "an tsíocháin".
 
However, it is the case that when the noun begins with a VOWEL, it is the FEMININE nouns that remain unchanged after the article - for the masculine one must place t-. For example "ainmhí", yet "an t-ainmhí".
 
I understand that this may have a complicated appearance...:)
