4 theanga Cheilteach fós beo?

cuir in eagar

Táim cinnte go bhfuil 6 theanga Cheilteach fós beo: Gaeilge, Manainnis, Gaeilge na hAlban, Briotáinis, Coirnis, agus Breatnais. Tá a fhios agam gur cailleadh Manainnis agus Coirnis tamaill ó shin, ach tá athbheochan tarluithe leo, agus sílim gur chóir iad a chomhaireamh chomh maith. Tá Manainnis agus Coirnis cosúil le zombies nó vaimpírí, is "undead languages" iad... ;-) Angr (plé with me) 07:06, 18 Lúnasa 2006 (UTC)Reply
Tá an ceart ag an mbeirt agaibh, agus ar ndóigh, caithfidh mé ceist na dteangacha beo a phlé níos mionchruinne fós ar an leathanach seo. Tá an ceithre theanga sin beo gan aon dabht nó déidearbhadh, ach is ceist chasta í beocht na Manainnise, nó cé go raibh Maddrell ar an gcainteoir deireanach dúchais a d'fhoghlaim an teanga óna thuismitheoirí, tá cainteoirí inniu féin a fuair an teanga go nádúrtha ó Dhaideó agus ó Mhamó, agus is féidir a rá gur cainteoirí dúchais iad siúd, ar bhealach. Tar éis an tsaoil, fuair mé féin mo chuid Fionlainnise ó Dhaideó agus ó Mhamó thar aon duine eile, ach is ar éigean is féidir le haon duine a rá nach cainteoir dúchais Fionlainnise mé ;)

Ach maidir leis an gCoirnis, is follasach go ndeachaigh sí in éag mar theanga phobail i ndeireadh na hochtú haoise déag. Scéal eile ar ndóigh, an féidir "teanga mharbh" a thabhairt uirthi a thuilleadh anois, agus díograiseoirí teanga ag tabhairt suas a gcuid clainne leis an gCoirnis mar theanga dhúchais. Tá an ceart ag Angr - is teanga "neamh-mharbh" í - agus ní mór an cheist seo a phlé níos cruinne ar an leathanach féin. Panu Petteri Höglund 07:24, 18 Lúnasa 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I can't speak Irish. I've produced tables to illustrate and compare mutations across the Celtic languages. I can't translate them because I can't speak Irish (or at least, I could translate the tables but I don't know where they should go) but maybe you'd be interested in them? You can see them at gv:Boggaghys (séimhiú), gv:Stronnaghys (urú), gv:Ennalaghey (grammeydys) ("aspiration" in Welsh and Cornish), gv:Creoiaghey ("hard mutation" in Cornish and Breton) as gv:Ceaghley mestit ("mixed mutation", and I don't have the details for the Irish mixed mutation yet). -- Shimmin Beg 17:44, 23 Iúil 2009 (UTC)Reply
